Push-ups, along with bodyweight lunges and squats, are the best travel or exercise snacks. You can get very fit just doing these.

I love your progressions chart in the article. I have to push myself to push up, lol, but I agree that they are an essential exercise for women.

Yep! Infinite ways to make them harder or easier. So foundational.

Absolutely, and there is a place to start for everyone! I have had shoulder issues in the past that had me at a point where I could barely do them - after being someone who could do 100 of them in a workout - so whether you are a beginner or coming back from injury, it starts with the basics - and with patience and persistence, you will make great progress and build real strength!

I LOVE this!!!! Elderly people, men and women alike, are made to believe that they can't achieve fitness gains later in life. Great for you and your Dad for shattering that status quo!!

Great info. Push-ups are underrated as a longevity metric. The fact that you can scale them from a wall to a single arm makes them a lifetime exercise. No excuses, no equipment, no expiration date.

There are SO many ways to do a pushup. Last year, I taught my 74 yr old Dad to done with good form. It was knees on the floor etc. This year he can do 10 fully unassisted pushups!
