Since I started this blog in March 2022, I have had a front-row seat to the Renaissance evolving in women’s health.
Since Title IX was passed in 1972, we have seen a tidal wave of women entering the world of sport, recreational fitness, and athletics. Now, these women are in their 40s, 50s, and 60s, not only “still going strong” but reaching new heights and blowing the status quo of the mid-life woman out of the water.
This has not come without its challenges. Research in the fitness industry has only recently started treating females as different from males, and even more sparse is research on active and athletic females beyond age 40. Then there’s mainstream medicine - don’t even get me started. A <20% population adherence to the American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines recommending 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity per week speaks volumes.
So here we are, 5 years and nearly 7,000 subscribers later, and this mission is more emboldened than ever! Athletic Aging continues to strive to bridge the gap between cutting-edge medicine, fitness, and wellness by providing you with evidence-based information and common-sense perspective in “evidence-free” zones…. and a kick-ass workout every week!
